Instructions to finish the Ornament: Take kit out of the bag & turn upside down. Working from the bottom up, glue or sew together. Place finished 3 ½” square on the 5 ¼” Backing fabric. Bring backing around to make binding, pin in place, & hand or machine sew. To prepare for Hanging: thread DMC crochene through an upholstery needle & sew through your Ornament (either ‘on point’ or ‘square.’) Enjoy!

NOTE: These pictures represent only two color combinations - Kits are already made up in the varied light/dark Christmas Fabric, primarily in the red, green, beige, white print color families.

Margo's Original Design "Easter/Spring Wallhanging" Pattern

Last Spring, 2007, I was inspired by a line of Fabric that came out and worked up this Wall Hanging. I will be writing and publishing the pattern, in the future, for this. This Wall Hanging is very interesting, as it 'blends' with this particular line of fabrics, but completed with another line or color combination, can give you a very different effect - as with all patterns. But I thought this is the best 'blending' that I have seen.

"Very Special Framed Quilt Cross Stitch"

This is an absolutely wonderful Christmas 2005 Gift from my Daughter-In-Law. A Special Gift to be treasured, as “it says it all!” It is beautiful and the picture does not do this Cross Stitch picture justice!

Eleanor Burns has always been a great inspiration and I have enjoyed many of her "Quilt in a Day" patterns. Made many of these, but this was a great "learning experience/teaching tool."

This one is a perfect example of what happens when you use non-100% Cotton. Seams coming apart already. You will see that the “opening” is not hand stitched. Used this as a “class demo” of what happens when using non 100% Cotton, AND how to hand stitch the opening on a ‘turned quilt.’

"Nine Patch" with sashing, but made with striped material

This was a fun Nine Patch using the already striped material with the solid colors and sashing.

"Hidden Wells"

This is my "Hidden Wells" made from one of the Cobbleston Quilters Guild "Pizza Parties." This pattern was taught to us by Bobbie Ann Wright. I went on to purchase the Pattern and teach it at the Air Force Base, too.

"Multi-Colored Stripe"

"Multi-Colored Stripe" was inspired by a Quilt hanging in the then Sumter Quilt Shop owned and operated by Norajane Throckmorton. I taught this class @ the Arts & Crafts Center on the Charleston, SC Air Force Base.

This was another Air Force Base Class "Demo" showing the 'Option' of using flannel and sashing.

Back in South Carolina, I had the opportunity to teach the Beginner Machine Strip Piecing Quilt Class at the Arts & Crafts Center on the Charleston, SC Air Force Base. I taught many "Nine Patch" classes. This "Demo" uses an Easter Egg print and has no sashing.

"Going Away Quilt"

As time neared for us to be transferred from the Saratoga Springs, NY area, the five ladies that I had been meeting with, quilting, and shopping with decided to make 6 Squares of our Favorite Pattern and then give 5 away, so we all would have a Quilt Wall Hanging that had the same squares. My Favorite Square is the "Goose in the Pond" Pattern in the top left corner.

"Double Wedding Ring" (with 'solid' color rings)

I like checking out "what it would look like with other color combinations," so this "Double Wedding Ring" Quilt was 'born,' using the 'solid' color ring method. Again, just a Top.

Nothing like leeping into the more difficult patterns! This "Double Wedding Ring" is made with 'pieced' rings. This is only a 'top' as I have not "met the challenge" of finishing!

"Moon Over The Mountain"

Another Class from Mary Ellen Hopkins' Book was "Moon over the Mountain" - teaching us the "grid method" for making 'triangle squares.' Don't have a picture of this one.

"Amish Shadow" made into "God's Eye"

Another variation of the "Amish Shadow" is to make a "God's Eye". This fabric was on sale, too, at The Sewing Room, so took advantage of that sale to make this "experiment wall hanging." This is where I discovered the 'diagonal borders' that I so dearly love to do now. Also, a memory comes with the 'diagonal border' on this quilt. I was sewing this border at The Sewing Room Quilt Shop when we heard the news on the Radio that the Space Shuttle Challenger had blown up on lift off. Very Sad Day in History.

"Pinwheels"

I had to "play" with the "Amish Shadow" pattern a little. Used already striped material and a solid and made these "Pinwheel" variations. Fun!!!! Love to explore 'the options!' This piece "intentionally" left unfinished to use as a teaching tool in my classes on how to do bindings.

2nd Class - "Amish Shadow"

I was "on my way" so to speak in the Quilting World. Next Class: "Amish Shadow" from The Sewing Room also and from the same Mary Ellen Hopkins Book. This "mini quilt" was machine quilted by a lady in Ohio.

Ah, Classes - "Triple Rail Fence"

Ahhhhhh! I discovered "Quilt Classes" at 'The Sewing Room' Quilt Shop, owned by Doris Neal!!!! Bought "on sale" fabrics from her Shop and here is the first result from a "Class." This is the "Triple Rail Fence," taught from Mary Ellen Hopkins' "The It's Okay If You Sit On My Quilt Book." My "first" Quilt Book Bought!

2nd Quilt - "Dresden Plate"

The Second Quilt I did was this Dresden Plate. Again all machine, except for the hand candlewicking squares.

White background is from old sheets from the 1940's/1950's. Quite a lesson there when trying to hand quilt, as the 'thread count' in those old sheets was high, so weave was very close/tight together.

Another "lesson learned" on this quilt, was the Sashing Fabric. Ran out of the Blue, so had to go back to the store to get more, only to find it was all gone, and had to use another dye lot.

This Quilt, unfortunately, had quite a bit of exposure to the Sun, so it is very faded in some places.

THE "First Quilt" - Queen Size Log Cabin "quilt as you go style!"

Well, off to the Library I went in Saratoga Springs, NY and found a book - showed a Log Cabin and a "quilt as you go style." So that is what I decided to do!

After many trips to Quilt/Fabric shops with the Pillow, (to get those 'right' burgandy and beiges,) I began the machine sewing process, and here is the result! I was pleased, didn't have anyone at that time to tell me otherwise!!!!

It's alway "humbling" to look @ the first quilt you ever did, but I will never get rid of it, even if it did win the "Worst 1st Quilt" Award one night @ the Cobblestone Quilters Guild meeting in Charleston, SC!

Every Quilter Has a "Beginning"

My beginning was a "Log Cabin Pillow" Gift from a Good Friend as we moved from Charleston, SC to Saratoga Springs, NY. As you can see, this Pillow was dearly loved/used AND carried from Quilt Shop to Quilt Shop to purchase just the "right Burgandy and Beiges" to make my Queen Size Log Cabin!
